Journalist, Writer, Editor
About Me
Award-winning writer and editor
Growing up, I loved to hear the stories my seven siblings would tell about what they had learned and accomplished. I also read pretty much anything I could get my hands on. My intellectual curiosity gained a refined mission through my journalism studies at Dominican University, a small liberal arts college with a motto of Caritas et Veritas, or Charity and Truth. Those two values have shaped who I am today: a storyteller committed to service and integrity.
I've won four awards so far in my career, and I'd love to win more for your publication or company!
Third Place News Reporting, Series, Ripper Crew parole; from both the Illinois Press Association (2017) and the Northern Illinois Press Association (2018)
Outstanding Student Leader for Journalism Discipline award; Dominican University (2012)
Third Place Best News Article, “Res Life Faces New Problem: Major Dorm Vacancies; Illinois College Press Association (2011)
I'm also tri-lingual. Reach out to me in English, Spanish or Italian at marystroka7@gmail.com or 708-703-7871.
